CTOnews.com, December 24 (Xinhua) after sending two Russian astronauts and one NASA astronaut to the International Space Station, the Soyuz spacecraft suffered a serious coolant leak. The Russian space agency is deciding whether it is necessary to send rescue ships to the International Space Station to take them home.

Sergei Krikalev, executive director of the Roscosmos manned space program, said at a briefing on Thursday that officials from the Russian space agency Roscosmos are working with NASA's counterparts to determine whether the aircraft is safe enough to send astronauts home, ▲ Touyuan NASACTOnews.com reported, citing the Washington Post.

If the aircraft is determined to be unsafe, Russian agencies will send another unloaded Soyuz spaceship to pick up the crew. Officials say the spacecraft may be ready to take off sometime in February.

CTOnews.com learned that the crew aboard the rescue spacecraft, including NASA astronaut Frank Rubio (Frank Rubio) and two Russian astronauts Sergei Prokopiyev (Sergey Prokopyev) and Dmitry Patrin (Dmitri Petelin), arrived at the International Space Station in September this year.
