Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
According to CTOnews.com on December 24, Tesla's latest FSD (Full Self-Driving) has been sued by car owners for "false propaganda", saying Tesla is "suspected of misleading the public about his BAP, EAP and FSD technologies".
To solve this problem, California has passed a new law prohibiting Tesla from naming his software "fully autopilot."
Of course, although Tesla FSD is called "fully autopilot", in fact, the company has never claimed to be autopilot, and currently it can only provide L2+~L3-level auxiliary driving functions, and car owners need to be ready to take over the vehicle at any time even if the FSD is turned on.
Mr Musk said Tesla's goal was to develop "technology for fully self-driving cars", and drivers must be vigilant and ready to take over when using FSD or AP / EAP before achieving that goal.
However, California lawmakers disagreed and signed the new bill. The new law, which will take effect in 2023, specifically targets Tesla's software name. The bill was initiated by Lena Gonzalez, chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, who claimed that Tesla falsely advertised his technology as a possible safety problem.
The new bill stipulates that:
The dealer or manufacturer shall not sell any new passenger car equipped with any part of the driving automation function, or provide any software updates or other vehicle upgrades that add any part of the driving automation function; when delivering or upgrading the vehicle, provide clear notice to the buyer or owner, provide the name of the function and clearly describe the features and limitations.
The manufacturer or dealer shall not name or describe any part of the driving automation function in marketing materials, implying or otherwise convincing reasonable people that the function allows the vehicle to act as a self-driving vehicle, as defined in Section 38750, or otherwise has a function that is not actually included in the function. For the purposes of Article 11713, violations of the provisions of this Article shall be regarded as misleading advertisements.
CTOnews.com learned that Tesla said on his FSD website that all future new cars would have the hardware needed for the FSD. "the system is designed to be able to travel short and long distances without the need for anyone in the driver's seat to take any action."
"the future use of these functions without supervision depends on achieving far more reliability than human drivers, which may take longer in some jurisdictions, as demonstrated by billions of miles of experience and regulatory approvals."
"with the introduction of these autopilot features, your car will be upgraded with OTA updates."
"Autopilot is accused of fraud, and Tesla responded that failing to achieve long-term goals is not fraud."
Tesla was ordered to upgrade the self-driving computers of users' vehicles free of charge because of "false propaganda".
