CTOnews.com news on December 24, citing foreign technology media The Information, reported that Apple originally planned to make a major upgrade to the GPU of the iPhone 14 Pro model, introducing "ambitious" technologies, including ray tracing, but in the end, because the technology was too difficult to implement, there were "unprecedented" difficulties in the development process, so it was forced to cancel the new GPU plan at the later stage of development.

The paid report pointed out that although Apple implemented ray tracing on the iPhone 14 Pro prototype, it seriously affected the phone's battery performance and heat, as well as many other problems.

CTOnews.com quoted The Information as saying that after contacting several internal developers, Apple found that the GPU in the iPhone 14 Pro model did not live up to expectations until later in the development of the device, and had to rush to use the GPU design of last year's iPhone 13 series A15 Bionic.

This is an important reason why the iPhone 14 Pro model has changed significantly compared with previous generations, but has not improved much in terms of GPU.
