CTOnews.com, December 23 (Xinhua)-- DuckDuckGo apps and extensions are now completely banning Google's single sign-on pop-up window (Sign-in pop-ups) in order to ensure the privacy of users. DuckDuckGo provides privacy-conscious search engines, email services, mobile applications, and data protection browser extensions. DuckDuckGo is currently developing browsers, but it is limited to the macOS platform and is in the testing stage.

DuckDuckGo announced today that all of its Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Microsoft Edge applications and browser extensions will now actively block Google's single sign-on pop-up window displayed on the site.

CTOnews.com learned that, like Apple, Facebook, Twitter and other companies, Google also offers single sign-on, where users can log in using their Google accounts on supported sites. In short, users don't have to create new accounts and manage multiple passwords on various sites, just log in using Google when options are available.

But for consumers, this convenience comes at a price. The websites and applications where users log in may be tracked by Google. Although Google made it clear that "data from Sign In With Google will not be used for advertising or other non-security purposes," DuckDuckGo said their tests showed that Google was still collecting data.
