Ubisoft's tactical shooter, Rainbow 6: siege, has been in operation until Y7S4, the fourth season of its seventh year. Like other shooting games, Rainbow 6 is still plagued by plug-in problems, and Ubisoft has diligently updated its seven-year anti-cheating campaign.

However, the update of the new season seems to have a new problem, leading to a new type of plug-in rampant. This kind of plug-in is different from the past, it does not use conventional cheating techniques such as automatic aiming, perspective, piercing through the wall, locking blood and so on, to achieve an immoral victory. In terms of form, it is more like a simple prank.

Since December 20, the anchors of "Rainbow 6" have received feedback on Twitter, and their game pictures are occasionally covered by a cartoon-style white rooster.

The moment of the rooster's appearance is not fixed, and he comes on stage with a slide-cut effect. If it pops up when facing a gun, it will inevitably make people upset and even lose the game.

Even the director who changes the perspective of watching the game in a professional game has been tricked.

This picture of a rooster is a free piece of material on the Internet, and there is nothing special except that it looks very funny. In theory, the new plug-in can replace the rooster with any picture and text, blocking the player's game screen.

For example, Athieno, an Asian Twitch anchor pictured above, received a wish from an anonymous plug-in user in the most chic way in a subsequent game: "Merry Christmas".

However, funny pictures and warm-hearted greetings do not whiten the plug-in itself into a harmless performance art. As mentioned earlier, the pictures that cover the game screen are not restricted, so they can be the anchors' own photos.

This picture can also be a picture containing pornographic, bloody or novelty-seeking elements that will be banned by the live broadcast platform once broadcast. According to the feedback on social media, not only Twitch anchors are suffering, but ordinary players are also scared for some reason.

An anchor and programmer named UPLYNXED speculated that the new plug-in took advantage of loopholes in the menu and HUD interface of the new version of Rainbow 6. The new menus and HUD may be written in HTML, or some similar markup language, which allows direct embedding of images or injection of scripts, and Ubisoft probably forgot to turn off or block the relevant functions.

Rainbow 6 uses the BattlEye anti-cheating system, which reports real-time server-wide players ID in the upper right corner of the game. Plug-in users should have tampered with their ID, injected code to display specified pictures on the screen, and then blocked their accounts by deliberately using plug-ins or insulting words, thus interfering with all players in the game.

Of course, it's easy to avoid plug-in attacks, just turn off the Anti-cheating report (Ban Tickers) function, which doesn't affect players' normal games anyway.

In the end, as UPLYNXED expected, Ubisoft quickly noticed the feedback from the players. On December 22, Ubisoft released an update to a known problem, unsurprisingly fixing a batch of Bug, while noting that they were tracking problems with cheating reports and would temporarily disable the feature until a patch was released.

Although the new plug-in is as imaginative as a hacker attack in a game, the madness it brings is temporarily over.
