This green intelligent "locomotive" with three power systems will soon be put into operation of the German trunk railway network.

▲ Tu Yuan: CRRC said that the delivery of the first batch of vehicles is a major milestone in the implementation of the German Railway Berlin project. Eighteen months after the signing of the contract, the CRRC project team completed the manufacture of the first car and carried out certification tests in Germany. In June 2022, the project obtained the vehicle TSI (EU Railway Interconnection Technical Specification) certificate, and six months later obtained the IBG (vehicle Operation license) certificate issued by the German Federal Railway Agency, setting a new cycle record for the company to obtain the project certification license in Europe.

According to reports, the German railway Berlin shunting locomotive has three sets of power systems of diesel power package, storage battery and three-rail pantograph, which will be used in the German trunk railway network and the Berlin light rail line, and realize barrier-free cross-network operation, saving more than 30% energy compared with traditional locomotives and reducing exhaust emissions.

CTOnews.com learned that in the future, the vehicle will be equipped with three signal systems, which will become the first hybrid shunting locomotive with ZBS signal system in the world.
