CTOnews.com Samsung announced that two of its executives, Dr. Daniel Ahn of MX Business Unit's Mobile Platform Center and Dr. Michael Polley of Samsung Research Institute for America (SRA), have been named IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Fellows, the world's largest technology professional organization headquartered in New Jersey, USA.

Fellow status is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors in recognition of outstanding achievements in areas of IEEE concern. Speaking of Daniel Ahn's contributions, he was awarded Fellow status for his contribution to "developing innovative security solutions for Galaxy smartphones, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud-based mobile platform functionality extensions and enhancements."

Dr. Michael Polley, on the other hand, was awarded Fellow status for leading a team of algorithm and system designers focused on creating advanced technologies for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Previously, other Samsung Electronics Fellows included Kinam Kim, Chairman of Samsung Advanced Technology Research Institute, Daniel Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Research Artificial Intelligence Center, Sunghyun Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Advanced Communications Research Center, Charlie Zhang, Senior Vice President of Samsung Research Institute, Xue (Steve) Liu, Vice President of Samsung Artificial Intelligence Center (SAIC) in Montreal, and Juho Lee of Samsung Research Institute.

Dr. Michael Polley also mentioned that the innovative camera technology research carried out by MPI Lab and MX Business R & D team at SRA in collaboration with Samsung Research Institute India-Bangalore Institute has been recognized by IEEE.

CTOnews.com learned that IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is an international association of electronic technology and information science engineers. IEEE was founded on January 1, 1963, headquartered in New York City, USA. It is the most famous and largest non-profit transnational academic organization in the field of electronic, electrical, computer, communication and automation engineering technology research in the world today. In the field of electrical and electronic engineering, computer and control technology, IEEE published nearly 1/3 of the world's literature.

IEEE Fellow is the highest-level member of IEEE. It is the highest honor awarded by the organization. It is recognized as an authoritative honor and important professional achievement in the academic and scientific circles. It is selected by peer experts among the members who have made outstanding contributions every year. The number of elected members does not exceed 0.1% of the total number of IEEE members. Due to the small number of IEEE Fellows elected each year, the elected scientists are basically outstanding scientists who have made important achievements in the fields of science and engineering.
