Anna Anna Bateson, chief executive of the Guardian Media Group (Guardian Media Group), said in a statement: "We believe this is a blackmail attack, but we will continue to consider all possibilities." Bateson expects the Guardian to still publish Thursday's print edition.

The identity of the team behind the attack is unclear.
