It is said that China Unicom and China Telecom have opened a total of 1 million 5G shared base stations to achieve continuous coverage of 5G networks in township and above areas.

In addition to 5G, the two sides have also carried out in-depth cooperation in 4G co-construction and sharing, opening a total of 1.1 million 4G shared base stations, saving the country more than 270 billion yuan in investment, saving more than 30 billion yuan in operating costs and reducing carbon emissions by more than 10 million tons a year.

In addition, China Unicom has invested 20 billion yuan and built 170,000 new base stations this year. In 2023, China Unicom will continue to promote the construction of 900MHz low-frequency network, build no less than this year's 900MHz base stations, help build more than 200 gigabit cities nationwide, and key cities in the south will build 100% broadband boutique networks.

This year, on the basis of spending more than 13 billion yuan on research and development for the whole year, China Unicom has added a budget of 1 billion yuan for key core technologies and 30 million yuan for special incentives. China Unicom Science and Technology Association was established and 16 academicians were appointed as specially appointed experts of the Science and Technology Committee.

He also said that China Unicom has accelerated the construction of talent highlands and innovation highlands, and the proportion of scientific and technological innovation talents has increased by more than 8 percent this year to 30 percent, and is expected to exceed 40 percent in 2025.

Liu Liehong pointed out that China Unicom, as the national team for the operation and service of digital information infrastructure, will persist in moderately leading the way in the next two years, and will unswervingly increase investment in the next two years. we will speed up the construction of four boutique networks of 5G, gigabit broadband, government and enterprise, and computing, and resolutely throw the hat of "almost" networks in some areas in the past into the Pacific Ocean.
