CTOnews.com, December 20 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft acknowledges that the KB5021233 update released on Tuesday, the event day of this month's patch, caused 0xc000021a blue screen errors after some Win10 devices were upgraded. "after installing KB5021233, some Windows devices may have a blue screen error (0xc000021a) when starting up," Microsoft wrote in its official update log.

Microsoft said the known problem was caused by a mismatch between the file versions of hidparse.sys in system32 and system32 / drivers in the Windows folder, causing signature verification to fail. Currently, functional updates from Win10 20H2 to Win10 22H2 are affected. Microsoft says it is fixing the problem.

Microsoft also shared a temporary fix:

1. Enter Windows Recovery Environment mode

4. Select Advanced options

5. Select the Command prompt button and you may need to wait for your device to restart if necessary

6. Your device will reboot to a command prompt window and log in with a password

Xcopy C:\ windows\ system32\ drivers\ hidparse.sysC:\ windows\ system32\ hidparse.sys

8. When the command is complete, type "exit"

9. Select the continue button

10. It should be normal after reboot.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft added: "except for the methods recommended above, no other solutions are recommended. We do not recommend removing hidparse.sys from your Windows\ System32 folder."
