CTOnews.com, December 19 (Xinhua)-- Buick announced that it will launch its first mass production model, the Buick Electra E5, based on General Motors'(Ultium) electric platform, which will be located in a big five-seat intelligent pure electric SUV.

This model has been declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to reports, the size of the new car is 4892mm × 1905mm × 1655mm and the wheelbase is 2954mm.

Buick has not released much information about the new car, except that it will be equipped with a new generation of VCS smart cockpit and a new generation of Super Cruise super-assisted driving.

CTOnews.com learned that the Ultium Altenon electric vehicle platform integrates GM's more than 25 years of electrification experience and forward-looking technology advantages, seven-fold battery protection, safety standards several times the national standard, a wirelessly connectable battery management system, and a battery health intelligent monitoring system combined with "car-cloud".
