IC designers revealed that in the first quarter of next year, the price of the mature process of foundry has dropped by more than 10%, which is the largest since the revision of this wave of quotations. Not only the number of manufacturers willing to reduce prices has increased, but also changed the previous situation of loosening prices at only special nodes and moving towards a comprehensive price reduction.

The industry believes that there is still a high inventory to be removed in the chip market, and even if the quotation is revised, it is still unable to increase the willingness of the IC design plant to increase the amount of chips, resulting in a wafer foundry mature process showing capacity utilization and quotation "double drop". In the first quarter of next year, there will be wafer foundry mature process capacity utilization facing 50% defense war, and even fall into the pressure of losing money on some product lines.

IC designers revealed that affected by inventory adjustment, the mature wafer foundry process began to hear about price reduction in the second half of this year, but not many manufacturers adjusted their quotations at that time, and the price reduction range was limited to some nodes, and the price reduction was about a single-digit percentage.

But for IC designers, it is necessary to carefully calculate the wafer projection price to share in the cost of each IC, if it will lose money, they would rather not put a single film. In the first quarter of next year, it seems that the capacity utilization of some fabs will drop again, the inventory level is still high, and the number of orders that can be placed is still not large.

According to IC designers, it is now known that more fabs are willing to reduce prices in the first quarter of next year, with a maximum drop of more than 10%, depending on the manufacturing process. Only TSMC maintains the attitude that prices will rise next year. "the situation is now biased towards the buyer's market."

Although some IC designers have not yet agreed on the film price for the first quarter of next year, they also believe that the trend of wafer foundry price reduction will not stop. Even if the license prices of some fabs do not seem to have been reduced, individual customer concessions will still be offered in private, and subsequent auctions can be reduced after the number of films reaches a certain amount.
