CTOnews.com, December 18 (Xinhua)-- Apple is preparing to upgrade and possibly expand its lineup of external displays designed for Mac and iPad users, according to a new report today.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple is "developing a number of new external monitors." The new version of Pro Display XDR will be matched with the new Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, and may not be released until after the new Mac Pro.

▲ Pro Display XDRCTOnews.com learned that it had previously been reported that Apple was developing an external display with a 7K resolution. The current Pro Display XDR has a 32-inch 6K (6016 x 3384) panel with a pixel density of 218 PPI. Apple's new 7K display will have a taller 245 PPI on a 32-inch screen, or maintain 218 PPI, with a screen size of 36 inches.

Gurman also reported that these new displays will be equipped with Apple Silicon chips, so "the screen is less dependent on connected computer resources." for example, the Studio Display released this year contains the A13 bionic chip and 64GB storage space, and Apple will expand this "powerful" display lineup.
