CTOnews.com, December 18, according to news from State-owned assets Supervision and Administration Commission Information Center @ State-owned assets Administration, on December 15, the Jiangsu Yangzhou-Zhenjiang ±200kV HVDC (Wufengshan cross-river line AC to DC) project designed by Jiangsu Institute of Energy Construction in China officially started.

The project adopts ±200kV DC transmission mode, the single-circuit DC transmission capacity is about 1200 megawatts, and two new converter stations are built. The DC line starts from Shaoyou converter station in Situ Town, Gaoyou City, Yangzhou City, and ends at Jindong converter station in Dagang New District, Zhenjiang City. the total length of the route is 109.839 km.

CTOnews.com learned that China Energy Construction said that this is the first project in China to transform AC transmission into DC transmission, and when completed, it will become the AC to DC project with the largest transmission capacity in the world. Through the transformation of the existing cross-river transmission lines, the project will more than double the cross-river transmission capacity and better promote the efficient flow of energy between the Yangtze River Delta regions.

According to reports, after the project is put into operation, the interconnection and interconnection capacity of power grids on both sides of the Yangtze River will be greatly enhanced, which has important reference significance for the optimization of regional power grid structure with large domestic power demand, high power grid saturation and limited new space.
