Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, December 18, thanks to Apple's excellent Find My network, users can track any lost or stolen iPhone, iPad, Mac or AirTag, even if they are outside the range of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and power off.
In 2021, Google was found to be developing a similar "find my device (Find My Device)" network, but there has been no new information on this since. But the Play system change log updated in December 2022 suggests that the "find my Devices" network may be coming to track lost or stolen Android devices even without an Internet connection.
In its revised Google Play system change log in December 2022, Google noted that find my Devices uses a new "privacy-centric framework" and supports sending encrypted last known location reports. This may suggest that the find my Devices network will soon be available on all Android devices, allowing them to act as beacons for lost devices.
The initial December Play update introduced support for adding a driver's license to Google Wallet in a specific state of the United States. The new release notes highlight other features being introduced to Android phones, including automatic app archiving and digital car key support on Xiaomi phones.
The app archiving feature, announced in March 2022, allows users to uninstall an app from their phone to free up space, but the application data is saved locally. When the application is reinstalled, the user will get the same experience as before archiving. The application archive was launched with Google Play Store v33.4 in late November. Now, Google is further strengthening this feature by automatically archiving applications when mobile phones run out of storage space. Application archiving will automatically handle low storage space in the background without compromising the user experience, which is introduced as part of Google Play Store v33.5.
The latest Google Play service also offers digital car key support on Xiaomi phones, which had previously been limited to some Samsung and Pixel phones. In addition, users of Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 2 can now use the Google Wallet app to manage payment cards connected to their wearables.
CTOnews.com has learned that all of the above improvements are part of the update to Google Play Services v50.22, which was released on December 15, and Google Play Store v33.5, which launched the latest Play Store version on December 12.
