The experiment inputted 2.05 megajoules of energy to the target, resulting in a fusion energy output of 3.15 megajoules and an energy gain of 153%. The energy of 3.15 megajoules is equivalent to the explosive power of two explosives. This is the first laser fusion ignition in the world, and it is a landmark work, which has aroused widespread concern in the scientific community and society.

Bai Chunli also pointed out that at present, the scientific community believes that the important direction of the energy revolution and industrial transformation is clean and low-carbon use of fossil energy, large-scale application of low-carbon and renewable energy, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization.
