According to news from December 18, Beijing time, the share price of Tesla has fallen by more than 62% so far this year. Alex Stamos, the former head of security at Facebook, warned that activist investors could start buying Tesla shares or even try to wrest control of the company from Elon Musk if Tesla's share price did not start to improve.

Stamos warned that Musk could lose control. Activist investors often buy a large number of shares in listed companies, demand corporate change, and sometimes pressure companies to adjust their boards and place their own seats on the board, thus affecting the development of the company.

Staples spoke on the podcast this week about the sharp fall in Tesla's share price. "if Tesla's share price continues to fall so rapidly, there will eventually be activist investors who will ask for a seat on the board and then put pressure on Musk and may even kick him out of CEO," he said.

Stamos said that if activists do show up, they may eventually "put on the brakes for Musk's actions." He was referring to the controversial behavior of Mr Musk at the helm of Twitter. "it might give him a slap in the face and let him know if it was worth it." Stamos said. So far, however, there is no sign that this is going to happen.

A spokesman for Tesla and Mr Musk had no comment. Staples was previously the chief security officer of Facebook and the chief information security officer of Yahoo. The last time he came forward and warned that activist investors were trying to oust the founder was aimed at Mark Mark Zuckerberg. There were some voices at the time that Zuckerberg should be dismissed as CEO in 2019.

Mr Stamos is not the only one who warned Mr Musk that he might face liquidation. On Wednesday, Leo KoGuan, Tesla's majority shareholder, called for the appointment of a new CEO to take over the company. As of September this year, Liao Kai had held about 22.6 million Tesla shares.
