CTOnews.com, December 17 (Xinhua)-- the smartphone market in Saudi Arabia remained stagnant on an annual benchmark in the third quarter of 2022, according to Strategy Analytics. This comes after a decline in market size in the first two quarters of this year, but Saudi Arabia is still the largest market in the Gulf.

Samsung continues to dominate the smartphone market in Saudi Arabia, with a 59% share. This is the highest level in the past six quarters. The supplier has such a dominant position only in its home market, South Korea. Xiaomi, the second-largest supplier, also recorded its biggest-ever growth in Saudi Arabia's market share (expected to be 18 per cent) in the third quarter. Sales of the top two suppliers are also growing year-on-year. This is because the "growth" of most suppliers is declining every year.

CTOnews.com has learned that the market share of Chinese smartphone suppliers has grown from 24 per cent to 31 per cent in more than a year. Xiaomi is a leader, others such as OPPO, realme, vivo, OnePlus and so on are very limited.

The Saudi smartphone market is driven by Generation Z and is attractive to mid-and high-end devices. Saudi Arabia's 5G penetration has been increasing recently, and this surge is expected to continue in the near future. SA expects growth in the smartphone market to return in the coming quarters, driven by events such as the FIFA World Cup.
