It's been a long time since I shared something new. Let's have a whole issue today. It's good enough, practical enough and fun enough!

The reason why I want to do this content is because recently some friends in the community asked about the interactive trigger of music and the VBA application related questions in PPT.

It happened that I had encountered the demand for interactive PPT data dial before, so I simply went through all three knowledge points in the whole issue.

Because there are many articles written on PPT design at ordinary times, and the overall interface of this dial is not complicated, the design layout is not introduced too much today.

This article mainly takes you through the relevant principles, as well as some functions and key points. At the end of the article, I will share the data with the PPT source file. Interested in it, you can disassemble and learn by yourself.

01. Music player in the upper left corner First of all, music is placed in the upper left corner of the page, placed at the bottom, obscured by the gradient background above, so you can't see music when editing and playing.

Secondly, click the music to start playing, click pause again, click after a period of time can continue to play.

When many small partners make music triggers, clicking pause and playing again will start from the beginning, instead of playing from the paused position, indicating that the setting is wrong.

The correct setting would be as shown above, adding two trigger shapes with 100% transparency above the play button.

Upper Shape Settings Click to trigger the music start animation, and after clicking the shape disappears.

The lower shape setting clicks trigger the animation of music pause, so that clicking to play the upper shape disappears, and all subsequent clicking interactions are clicking on the lower shape to pause or continue playing music.

02. As you can see in the interactive chart setup video, click on different buttons and the bar chart below will switch at the same time.

The principle is simple: fill the two tables with white background, align the two charts and adjust the layer order so that the chart shown first is at the top.

Then bind different trigger buttons to the two histograms so that when one appears, the other disappears:

It should be noted that the interaction order of triggers is affected by the order in which triggers are added, so it is recommended to think about the action logic of interactive triggers before setting trigger animations.

In addition, in order to ensure that the upper chart will be displayed first, you can add an automatic appearance and disappearance animation at the beginning to adjust the appearance and hiding effect of the chart.

If you have multiple data graphs to show, the principle is the same, add one by one trigger animation appears and disappears.

03. Data links with Excel first need to organize the original data in Excel, as shown in the following figure:

According to the reserved position in PPT, insert the corresponding histogram in Excel:

Excel chart beautification and PPT is almost the same, no difficulty, we will not talk about today.

Let's look at February and the data for the app:

Similarly, make them into line charts and corresponding text, set the corresponding format effect, and easily copy them directly to PPT for use:

At this point, you only need to update the original data on the left side of Excel, and the chart on the right side will automatically change.

Then box the histogram, text, and line chart table range:

Copy and paste selectively in PPT, select Paste Link-Worksheet Object:

Paste completed, proportional zoom adjustment size, position can be.

At the beginning, when modifying the data in Excel, the data in PPT will also change, but as long as the PPT is saved and closed, the data will not be automatically updated.

The advantage is that every time you open it, you will be prompted to update the link. After clicking the update link button, the data in PPT will be synchronized with the data in Excel:

But the shortcomings are also very obvious, one is click update, if the amount of data is relatively large, will be stuck for a while; second, the Excel file linked in the PPT is bound to the absolute path:

Moving the location of the file will cause the update to fail.

At this time, you need to edit and modify the linked source file in the PPT information option to update the data normally:

This leads to the need to be very careful in daily work. Once moved, if the amount of data bound is relatively large, you have to manually rebind and update them one by one.

And the data dial I made, just need to put PPT and Excel in the same folder, you can move the position at will, even if you change the computer can update the data.

What's more, after the data in Excel is modified, the data in PPT will be updated synchronously in real time, even if PPT is playing, it can be modified in the background.

This means that PPT can be shown all day long without turning it off, and only need to modify the data in the background to display it on the screen in real time.

Moreover, when we open PPT, we can not update the data first, speed up the opening speed of PPT, and then directly modify Excel to trigger automatic update, which can effectively avoid the card caused by data update.

So how do these functions work?

04. VBA automatically updates data The solution comes from a foreign video, the specific link I put in the PPT remarks.

First, you need to put the data and graphs in an xlsm file with macros so that the VBA code edited later can be saved.

Next, you need to open Excel development tools, add new modules and write the corresponding code:

The specific functions of the code will not be introduced in this article, mainly explain two places.

First, the red line in the figure below defines the location of the PPT file. Here, the relative path is referenced, that is, under the same folder as Excel:

In this way, every time you modify the data in Excel, the link to the PPT and the corresponding data will be automatically updated, and there is no need to manually rebind when moving the file location.

Of course, if you modify the name of the PPT file, remember to change the file name here.

Second, the red line in the following figure defines the scope of Excel original data and the object of data update in PPT:

All chart objects need to be listed in the code so that updates are triggered automatically when data is modified.

As for the name of the chart object in PPT, the Chinese version is not directly displayed, but can be viewed by using the Xiaowen briefing plug-in.

It should be noted that chart objects in PPT cannot be combined with other elements, and data updates after combination will cause problems.
