CTOnews.com, December 16 (Reuters)-Toshiba, a Japanese company under negotiation, said in a letter to shareholders on Friday that its goal is to reach an agreement with potential partners as soon as possible.

Akihiro Watanabe, chairman of Toshiba's board of directors of Tuyuan Unsplash, and Jerry Black, chairman of the Toshiba Special Committee on Strategic options, added in the letter that there was no guarantee that a deal would be reached. The letter said Toshiba "plans to accept binding and sincere proposals and will do its best to reach an agreement as soon as possible after the necessary negotiations".

JIP, Toshiba's preferred bidder, is close to securing acquisition financing from banks, according to sources. The deal is expected to value the industrial group at about 2.2 trillion yen (111.98 billion yuan).

According to the Nikkei News on Thursday, JIP may receive a loan of 1.2 trillion yen (about 61.08 billion yuan), while the core banking units of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Mizuho Financial Group will each provide 450 billion yen (about 22.905 billion yuan) in loans.

CTOnews.com learned that sources had previously said Japanese companies such as financial services group Orix, chipmaker Rohm and Postal Bank of Japan might join the JIP bid.

In addition, Toshiba owns 40 per cent of memory chip maker Kioxia Holdings, whose shares rose 1.7 per cent in morning trading.
