CTOnews.com, December 16, IDC released a report today that China's wearable device market shipped 32.29 million units in the third quarter of 2022, down 8.4 percent from the same period last year.

According to the report, the headset market shipped 17.53 million units in the third quarter of 2022, down 12.1% from a year earlier. Of this total, shipments of true wireless headphones were 13.65 million, down 11.8% from the same period last year.

IDC said that the intelligent process of the overall Bluetooth headset market is gradually accelerating. With the further improvement of the maturity of the upstream solution and the increasingly fierce price competition, true wireless headphones further explore the active noise reduction function. However, the marginal effect driven by market demand shows a decreasing trend.

In addition, the smartwatch market shipped 10.8 million units in the third quarter of 2022, up 1.8 per cent from a year earlier. Of this total, 5.38 million were smartwatches for adults, up 13.3 percent from the same period last year; shipments of smartwatches for children were 5.42 million, down 7.6 percent from the same period last year. Apple's new product release has a significant effect on the adult smartwatch market. Little genius still ranks first in the children's smartwatch market.

The bracelet market shipped 3.89 million units in the third quarter of 2022, down 15.6 per cent from a year earlier. The decline of the bracelet market has narrowed, and the trend of big screen is becoming more and more obvious. Among them, the new products of Xiaomi bracelet have played a certain role in improving the shipping scale.

CTOnews.com has learned that IDC expects adult smartwatches to show restorative growth in 2023, with shipments growing by 3.5 per cent.
