Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, December 15 (Xinhua) according to a new regulation passed by the local council of the Japanese capital on Thursday, all new homes built by large residential builders in Tokyo after April 2025 must be equipped with solar panels to help meet the goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

This task is the first example of a Japanese municipal authority, and under the Tokyo metropolitan system, photovoltaic panels must be installed at the request of single-family residential developers who sell homes, not for people who buy homes. About 50 major builders are required to equip 2000 square meters of houses with renewable energy, mainly solar panels.

As a policy goal, Tokyo proposes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to half of its 2000 level by 2030. By 2020, emissions from firms and logistics-related industries were lower than those in 2000, while household emissions increased by 30%, resulting in slow response. Therefore, as a household emission reduction measure, new homes will be required to be equipped with photovoltaic panels.
