CTOnews.com, December 15 (Xinhua) Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang said the government plans to provide a subsidy of up to 8000 million rupiah ($5130) for each electric vehicle. Each electric hybrid will receive a subsidy of about 40 million rupees, each electric motorcycle will receive about 8 million rupees, and each motorcycle converted into an electric motorcycle will receive a subsidy of 5 million rupees.

Indonesia seeks to quadruple electric vehicle sales by 2030, and the new subsidies are expected to boost sales as part of a plan to reduce carbon emissions in Southeast Asia's largest economy and encourage more electric carmakers to invest in Indonesia.

CTOnews.com has learned that Indonesia plans to start subsidizing electric vehicles next year, with the goal of having 2.5 million electric vehicle users by 2025, stimulating market demand and reducing air pollution.

Data show that as of October 2022, the number of electric vehicles in Indonesia was 28188, of which the majority were motorcycles, reaching 22942.
