CTOnews.com, December 14 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Qualcomm hinted that Samsung Galaxy S23 phones will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips globally during its fourth quarter earnings call last month. All three upcoming phones (Samsung S23, S23 + and S23 Ultra) have appeared on Geekbench, using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but The Elec believes Samsung has not given up on its internal chip development plans.

For years, Samsung outsourced production of its Exynos chipsets to Samsung Systems LSI, an entity separate from Samsung's MX (Mobile eXperience) division. According to the new report, Samsung is now building a new chipset / AP development team within its mobile division. The division will be led by Executive Vice President Choi Won-joon, who joined Samsung from Qualcomm in 2016.

CTOnews.com has learned that Samsung is rumored to be committed to providing its first exclusive custom chipset for the Galaxy S series in 2025, but has no plans to launch new Exynos flagship chips in 2023 and 2024.
