CTOnews.com, Dec. 14 (Reuters)-Google asked a federal court late on Monday to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2020 accusing the search giant of violating anti-monopoly laws to maintain its dominant position in search. The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tuyuan PexelsCTOnews.com learned that the trial in the case is scheduled for September 2023, and Google has nine months to deal with the lawsuit.

When the DoJ first filed the lawsuit, the company said it was "seriously flawed" and "relied on dubious antitrust arguments". Google argues that its overwhelming market share makes "Google" a verb meaning "search", thanks to the quality of its search products, adding that its efforts to promote search are perfectly legal.

In July, Bloomberg said the Justice Department would file an antitrust lawsuit over Alphabet's dominant position in the online advertising market within weeks, and that the Justice Department was likely to reject concessions offered by Alphabet.
