Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, December 14, announced that Linux 6.2 has incorporated the open source kernel graphics / display driver Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) and added something worth paying attention to.

First of all, Intel's sharp Arc graphics card (DG2 / Alchemist) is no longer experimental.

CTOnews.com learned that in previous kernels, you needed to use the i915. Forceful probe= option to force "experimental" hardware support. However, in Linux 6.2 and later, support for DG2 / Alchemist standalone graphics card processors is considered stable enough to be turned on by default and ready for end users. If you run Linux 6.2 or Mesa 22.3 or above, you can steadily use the Ruixun Arc graphics card on the open source driver stack.

Another major change in the new Linux 6.2kernel driver is initial support for Nvidia RTX 30 "Ampere" acceleration.

This RTX 30 series acceleration with Nouveau relies on the firmware released by Nvidia a few months ago, while Nouveau Gallium3D has initial OpenGL support in Mesa.

Linux 6.2finally brings upstream open source acceleration support for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 "Ampere" GPU. Albeit slowly, until future kernel support for restart / GSP is resolved. Previous kernels are only supported by open source mode settings. The RTX 30 series code and Nouveau upstream do not yet use the NVIDIA GPU system processor (GSP).
