CTOnews.com December 14, Linux 6.2 merge window expanded support for Arm SoC and updated DeviceTree. This update adds support for seven Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in the kernel and initial support for Apple's M1 Pro / M1 Ultra / M1 Max processors in Mainline.

CTOnews.com learned that Arnd Behrman (Arnd Bergmann) updated the SoC chip during the holiday merger window of Linux Kernel 6.2, and Linus Torvalds has approved these pull requests. Some SoC highlights of Linux 6.2 include:

Linux 6.2 also initially supports Apple's M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra SoC in Mainline. The Asahi Linux team is currently developing the relevant kernel code, and now more code is upstreamed to Linux 6.2. Currently, the best hardware support for Apple's M1 / M2 devices on Linux is to use Asahi Linux code.
