CTOnews.com, December 14, at 04:30 Beijing time on December 14, ESA successfully put the Galaxy35/36 communications satellite and the MTG-I1 weather satellite into orbit with a total weight of 11 tons by using a large Ariane 5 carrier rocket at the Kulu space launch site.

The launch is the 175th space launch in the world in 2022 and the fourth space launch by ESA in 2022.

▲ image source: ESA according to reports, Galaxy 35 and 36 are two geosynchronous communications satellites operated by Intelsat, while MTG-I1 is the first of the third generation meteorological satellites of EUMETSAT.

The Meteosat Third Generation Imager (MTG-I1) satellite, which will produce 50 times more weather data than the previous generation of meteorological satellites, will help meteorologists in Europe and Africa quickly detect and achieve early warning of severe weather events.

Officials say the MTG system will become the most complex meteorological satellite system in the world, and after full operation, European meteorologists will be able to monitor storm changes throughout their life cycle. CTOnews.com learned that the satellite was launched with a mass of 3.76t, and that the satellite would run for 8.5 years.

Galaxy 35 and 36, a pair of communications satellites built by Maxar for Intelsat and have nothing to do with Samsung, will link to the North American Broadcasting Corporation to help broadcast live coverage of sporting events, entertainment programs and breaking news, while the two satellites will replace the previous two old Galaxy 3C and Galaxy 28 satellites.
