CTOnews.com, December 14 (Xinhua) Microsoft President Brad Smith said on Tuesday local time that the company had signed a legally binding agreement with the Federal Trade Commission on the controversial call of Duty to provide call of Duty and other games to competitors, including Sony, for at least a decade.

CTOnews.com reported yesterday that Microsoft had agreed to authorize rival Sony to sell call of Duty games in a game subscription model in order to push for approval for Activision's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Smith said they had made the offer long before the FTC sued Microsoft last week. Smith also said at Microsoft's annual shareholder meeting that he was disappointed that FTC did not take more time to consider agreeing to the proposal before suing.

The FTC declined to comment on Smith's comments but said it was willing to consider the proposal, according to Reuters.

In January, Microsoft Xbox announced that it would spend $68.7 billion (489.831 billion yuan) to acquire game giant Activision Blizzard. The deal drew criticism from Sony, the PlayStation maker, for fears that the rival would take control of the call of Duty series and launch exclusive content.

In addition to the US, the deal also faces scrutiny, such as the EU's launch of a full investigation in November, and the EU competition regulator said it would decide whether to approve or block the deal by March 23, 2023. Britain's antitrust regulator said in September that it would launch a full investigation.
