GAN is a special form of self-learning computer program, which uses two algorithms to compete as competitors in the "training phase". Both algorithms are designed to learn from mistakes and constantly improve. Through this process, one of the algorithms will make the creation "so deceptive that even the human eye cannot or can barely distinguish it from the real photo."

The rim designed by artificial intelligence will be a source of inspiration for designers. The rim design team can carry out a large number of calculations, and designers can simulate the color, shape, surface structure and other parameters.

The new design process does not rely entirely on the idea of artificial intelligence. Audi designers can also provide the program with their own designs and photos and add them to virtual experiments. The final step in this design process is to turn the virtual design into something tangible by producing prototypes of wheels, made of plastic or aluminum and made with high-tech milling machines.
