CTOnews.com, Dec. 13, quoted Reuters as Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook) visited Japan, Apple announced on Tuesday that it had invested more than $100 billion (698 billion yuan) in Japanese supply chain channels in the past five years.

CTOnews.com learned that Cook said in a tweet on Monday that he had visited Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan, where many semiconductor and leading technology companies are home to factories, including those being built by TSMC.

Apple said in a statement that it had increased spending by more than 30 per cent on suppliers in Japan since 2019, with its supply chain network covering nearly 1000 companies, from multinationals to family-owned businesses.

Apple said Sony Group is one of its largest suppliers of camera sensors for iPhone products in Japan, and also mentioned small and medium-sized enterprises, including textile company Inoue Ribbon Industry Co and mold maker Shincron Co.

Apple said 29 Japanese suppliers had pledged to switch Apple-related businesses to renewable energy by 2030, including Sony, Murata Studios, Keiwa Inc, Fujikura and Sumitomo Electric.
