CTOnews.com Elon Musk, CEO of social media company Twitter, said today that the number of ads for Twitter's Blue V certified users will be reduced by half and a higher level of ad-free service will be offered next year.

Musk did not elaborate further on the ad-free service. Twitter Blue V represents personal accounts, while gold and gray represent corporate and government accounts.

CTOnews.com has learned that Twitter Blue V authentication service relaunched this week with a subscription price of $8/month on the web and $11/month through the iOS app.

Nearly 90% of Twitter's revenue comes from selling digital ads. After Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, many advertisers suspended spending on the platform, which increased Twitter's financial pressure.
