On the morning of December 13, Beijing time, Oracle today released its results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2023 ending November 30, 2022. Oracle's total revenue in the second quarter was $12.3 billion, up 18% from a year earlier, according to the results. Net profit was $1.74 billion, compared with a net loss of $1.25 billion a year earlier.

Without non-GAAP, net profit was $3.31 billion, compared with $3.38 billion in the same period last year.

Tuyuan Unsplash second-quarter results: total revenue of $12.3 billion, up 18% year-on-year. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 25% compared with the same period last year.

Of this total, revenue from cloud services and licensing support (Cloud services and license support) was $8.6 billion, up 14% from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 20% compared with the same period last year.

Of this total, cloud services revenue (IaaS plus SaaS) was $3.8 billion, up 43 per cent from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 48% compared with the same period last year. Of this total, cloud infrastructure revenue (IaaS) was $1 billion, up 53 per cent from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 59% compared with the same period last year. Revenue from cloud applications (SaaS) was $2.8 billion, up 40 per cent from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 45% compared with the same period last year.

Fusion Cloud ERP (SaaS) had revenue of $600 million, up 23% from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 28% compared with the same period last year. NetSuite Cloud ERP (SaaS) had revenue of $600m, up 25 per cent from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 29% compared with the same period last year.

Revenue from cloud and local licensing (Cloud license and on-premise license) was $1.4 billion, up 16% from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 23% compared with the same period last year.

Cerner, its medical information company, has revenue of $1.5 billion.

Operating expenses were $9.2 billion, compared with $11.18 billion in the same period last year.

Of this total, sales and marketing expenses were $2.22 billion, compared with $1.95 billion in the same period last year. Spending on R & D was $2.16 billion, compared with $1.75 billion in the same period last year. General and administrative expenses were $366 million, compared with $319 million in the same period last year.

Operating profit was $3.1 billion, compared with an operating loss of $824 million a year earlier. Operating profit, not in accordance with non-GAAP, was $5.1 billion, up 5 per cent from a year earlier. If the exchange rate effect is excluded, it will increase by 12% compared with the same period last year. The operating margin is 25 per cent, which is not in accordance with non-GAAP and 41 per cent.

Net profit was $1.74 billion, compared with a net loss of $1.25 billion a year earlier. Without non-GAAP, net profit was $3.31 billion, compared with $3.38 billion in the same period last year.

Short-term deferred income is $8.7 billion. In the past 12 months, operating cash flow was $15.1 billion.

Oracle's board of directors announced today that it will pay a cash dividend of $0.32 per share in the second quarter. The dividend will be paid on January 24, 2023 to shareholders of record prior to the close of trading on January 10.
