Beijing time on the morning of December 13, according to reports, people familiar with the matter said today that SpaceX, a space exploration technology company owned by Elon Musk, is selling its internal shares at $77 a share.

Based on that price, that means SpaceX is currently valued at about $140 billion. By contrast, SpaceX was valued at about $127 billion in July, according to data service provider PitchBook.

Last month it was reported that SpaceX had been in talks with potential investors about a new round of financing at $85 a share, valuing the company at more than $150 billion. But Musk later denied it on Twitter.

Representatives of the SpaceX have not commented on this.

Headquartered in Hawthorne, California, SpaceX currently dominates the commercial space launch market in the United States, providing launch services to private companies, NASA and other government agencies, including sending astronauts to the International Space Station and private space travel services.

In addition, SpaceX is building a "Starlink" satellite network to provide satellite Internet services. Mr Musk has previously said that the Star chain service is likely to be spun off and listed once cash flow becomes more predictable.

In June last year, Musk also said that in order to maintain the "star chain" market competitiveness, SpaceX will need to invest $20 billion to $30 billion.
