Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com December 13 news, quoting foreign technology media Lifewire reported that Apple chip partner TSMC held the first machine entry ceremony at the new factory in Arizona a few days ago. Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook) personally attended the ceremony, and Intel CEO Kissinger tweeted congratulations. But that doesn't mean Apple will make the iPhone in the United States, or even the chips it produces will not be used in the iPhone.

Tu Yuan rioryan / UnsplashTim Cook (Tim Cook) and President Joe Joe Biden visited TSMC's new Arizona plant, which will make chips for Apple but not M-series and A-series chips for Mac and iPhone.

Touyuan Cook tweeted that the facility was completed earlier this year and is scheduled to start production in 2024. The first phase of the project has already cost $12 billion, but it is not advanced enough to make Apple processors.

CTOnews.com learned that Ben Thompson, an industry analyst, wrote on his Stratechery blog: "simply put, even if TSMC's new plant can start mass production in 2024, it is still two years behind 4-nanometer process production. If the plant plans to produce 5-nanometer process, it will actually be four years behind."

Apple Silicon is well ahead of its competitors with its incredible power and low power consumption. This depends on several factors, two of which are design (Apple chips are optimized to run only Apple software, which makes the design more powerful and efficient) and chip craftsmanship.

TSMC's new Laura Ockel / Unsplash plant in Arizona currently announces that it will use a 5nm or 4nm process, which sounds great, but Apple's M-Series and A-Series will be upgraded to a 3nm process by 2024.

In other words, TSMC's Arizona plant will not produce iPhone chips, at least for now. It can instead make other chips for Apple devices, or it can make old A-series chips. Under the leadership of Tim Cook, Apple tends to sell old devices for many years to reduce manufacturing costs. In addition, Apple uses older A-series chips in a variety of devices from Studio Display to Apple TV.
