A number of IGBT chips are integrated and packaged together to form IGBT modules, which have greater power and stronger heat dissipation capacity, playing an extremely important role and influence in the field of new energy vehicles.

In order to break through the blockade and realize the independent control of IGBT core resources, Dongfeng Company joined hands with CRRC to establish Zhixin Semiconductor Co., Ltd. in 2019, and began to independently research and develop and produce IGBT modules of vehicle gauge level. It lasted two years. In July 2021, the IGBT production line with an annual output of 300,000 pieces was officially put into operation in Dongfeng New Energy Automobile Industrial Park in Wuhan City, which is also the first fully automatic sealing and testing assembly line of IGBT modules in China.

According to introduction, the silicon carbide power module project was established in Zhixin in January 2021. At present, the project has been successfully completed and will be equipped with Dongfeng independent new energy passenger vehicle in 2023 to realize mass production. This module can promote the iteration of the electrical architecture of new energy vehicles from 400V to 800V, thus achieving 80% charging in 10 minutes, further improving the vehicle range and reducing the vehicle cost.

CTOnews.com learned that Dongfeng Motor's power module phase II project with a total investment of 280 million yuan is also accelerating. It is reported that on the one hand, the project optimizes the existing production line and improves the output of IGBT modules; on the other hand, it opens up two brand-new production lines to produce IGBT modules and silicon carbide power modules according to the order demand. By 2025, it will provide about 1.2 million power modules for Dongfeng new energy vehicle production every year.
