Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
In the actual work report PPT
What method will you use to present your performance results?
Pictures? Words? Or a chart?
On the occasion of performance reporting, everything depends on factual data.
If the PPT is full of pictures, it will make people feel flashy, Get is not the key point; if it is all text, it will appear boring; only charts can best highlight the results of work, just as the text is not as good as the picture and the picture is not as good as the table.
Let's walk you in today.
The knowledge behind PPT Chart Design
The article is relatively long. It is recommended to collect it before reading it.
PPT comes with many rich chart types (such as bar chart, line chart, pie chart, bar chart, area chart, rising sun chart, histogram, radar chart, etc.)
In the final analysis, these different forms of charts are designed to quantify the relationship between data.
01. There are three commonly used types of charts, although there are many forms of charts, but in fact, in daily work
The only three types that apply most frequently are the following:
1. Component proportion type: presents the proportion of each component to the whole (such as pie chart, stacked bar chart)
two。 Quantitative comparison: presents a quantitative comparison between multiple items (bar chart, bar chart)
3. Trend pattern: showing the change of quantitative relationship over time (line chart)
1.1 component percentage type
Component proportion type: indicates the proportion of each part to the whole
Mainly include pie chart and stacked bar chart
Pie chart:
Indicate the proportion of each part to the whole
Generally less than 6 parts, arranged clockwise from big to small from 12 o'clock
Stacked bar chart:
Present multiple components of a whole
In general, the number of items of a column should be less than 5.
1.2 quantitative comparison
Quantity comparison: presents the sort of multiple items
Mainly include bar chart and bar chart
Bar chart: presents the sorting of multiple items with comparability
Bar chart: presents a quantitative comparison between multiple projects that are comparable
1.3 trend type
Trend: showing the change of quantitative relationship with time
Mainly contains line charts
Line chart:
Presents the change of quantity over time, emphasizing the trend of change as a whole
The number of lines had better not exceed 5.
The combination of these common chart forms will also lead to some combined chart types (such as stacked bar chart, column line chart, composite pie chart).
They can be used to express some relatively complex data relationships.
02. Although there are many types of charts and charts, their composition forms are the same.
2.1 composition of a chart A standard chart generally consists of five parts: title, unit, chart itself, legend, and data source
Title: there are generally two ways of starting a title, the first is to describe the topic, such as "Reading Source Analysis", and the second is to express the specific content, such as "more than half of the article reading comes from moments."
Units: units are generally placed at the lower left / right of the title, the color is light gray, written in parentheses
Chart body: various forms of charts (such as pie charts, bar charts, line charts, etc.)
Legend: the content that the shape of each part of a chart refers to, distinguished by color or other forms
Data source: Mark the access to data, usually from a third-party authority, such as "one partner plug-in"
2.2 in order to make a good chart, you must first choose the right chart, which is very important.
If the category is wrong, no matter how beautiful the form is, it doesn't make any sense.
So how to choose the right chart?
In my opinion, it is roughly divided into three steps:
1. Identify the core content: identify the core message to be conveyed in a chart
two。 Determine the type of comparison: determine the type of comparison between data (such as proportion, quantity, trend, etc.)
3. Select chart type: select the chart with the corresponding meaning (such as pie chart, bar chart, line chart, etc.)
Many friends will be at a loss when determining and choosing the type of chart, but you only need to remember one sentence: it is not the data that determines the form of the chart, but the message you want to convey.
What do you mean? Give an example to illustrate:
Faced with the same set of raw data, the pie chart is selected on the left and a bar chart is selected on the right. Which of these two types of charts do you think is more suitable?
Think about it for a few seconds
. . .
. . .
. . .
All right, find out the answer.
There is no problem with these two choices, the key is what is your core demand?
If you want to show the proportion of reading data sources, choose the pie chart; if you want to know the specific numerical comparison of the reading data sources, choose the bar chart
So: it's not the data that determines the form of the chart, it's the message you're trying to convey. There is no absolutely correct answer to the chart, which type depends on your core information.
The general criteria are as follows
Percentage of performance: optional pie chart and stacking chart
Presentation data: select bar chart and bar chart
Performance trend: select line chart
. . .
03. Setting the details of the chart choosing the right chart is only the first step, we should also pay attention to the beauty of the design.
There are also many details in chart design. Here I list four small details: color matching, sequence, wiring and spacing:
3.1 Color matching
Comparison of performance data: the color difference can be larger (left)
Highlight a project: other parts should be weakened (figure right)
When facing the stacking map, the theme colors can be arranged from dark to light, and the items can be distinguished by adding lines.
3.2 sequence
The items of the pie chart should be arranged clockwise from large to small from 12 o'clock according to the size of the area.
3.3 connection
Try to avoid diagonal lines in the labeling lines of the chart (messy and unprofessional); and use lines with end styles, and if the lines cannot be connected directly, you can make a right-angle bend (more calm business)
3.4 spacing
The distance between items in the chart should not be too large or too small, and it should be kept at 50% of the width of the bar chart. 80%.
In fact, there are many small details like this, so we will not enumerate them one by one. The main reason is to make everyone pay attention to the design details. After all, professionalism is reflected here.
04. The creative form of the chart, of course, some friends will ask, can the chart only be this default form? It looks so boring.
In fact, if the occasion is right, we can also use a more creative form of graphic presentation. Let's take a look at a few sets of visualization exercises I did earlier.
Finally, let's review:
This article mainly introduces the design knowledge behind working PPT diagrams. This paper first introduces three common chart types, composition structure and the method of selecting chart, then gives examples to illustrate several small details of chart design, and finally extends the design form of visual chart.
The above is the whole content of this sharing. I hope it will inspire you.
