Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Xing Han roaming clues delivery! CTOnews.com news on December 12, 2022 China Mobile Global partner Conference-Internet of things Sub-Forum was held today. Core Technology Co., Ltd., a chip company owned by China Mobile, has released two RISC-V kernel Internet of things communication chips.

Data show that the number of NB and Cat1 users of China Mobile is growing rapidly. By October 2022, the number of NB users has reached 120 million and Cat1 users has reached 240 million.

Among them, NB-IoT communication chip CM6620 is the first low-power NB-IoT Internet of things communication chip based on RISC-V core architecture, using a domestic 192MHz RISC-V core and 40nm process.

In terms of interface, CM6620 has 4 UART, 1 LPUART, 2 SPI Master, 1 SPI Slave, 2 I2C, 4 PWM, 4 Timer, 1 watchdog, 1 sim (supporting eSIM), 5-channel 12-bit ADC and 1 temperature sensor. In terms of security, CM6620 has protocol stack encryption and decryption accelerators and supports SNOW3G / AES / ZUC encryption algorithms.

CTOnews.com learned that the data showed that the CM6620 standby current was as low as 0.9 μ A, and the communication reception sensitivity reached-118dBm, which could support the normal use of the terminal in the case of weak signal coverage, optimized the protocol stack and software, and streamlined the peripheral components.

In addition, CM8610 is a LTE chip based on RISC-V core architecture, using 22nm technology, with good RF performance, minimalist BOM, and support Open CPU, which can be used in medium and low speed Internet of things applications.

CM8610 integrates application AP, communication Modem, RF transceiver, PMU power management unit and memory, and has a RISC-V CPU kernel with a main frequency up to 624MHz, as well as Flash, pSRAM and peripheral interfaces, making it convenient for users to use Open CPU. At the same time, the CM8610 does not need an external PMU chip, and the BGA package that supports built-in eSIM,7.4x8.0mm is suitable for small-size communication modules.
