Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
On December 12, many Meta employees were posting on the anonymous forum Blind, making negative comments about the company's co-founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who was obsessed with meta-universe that would "drag" the entire company to death.
It is reported that since Meta announced a 13% layoff in early November, employees of the company have been posting various comments, including many negative comments, on the anonymous forum Blind. One user compared the job cuts to a "hunger game", while another said Meta's boss's "future is also full of uncertainty".
A user of Tuyuan Unsplash, who claimed to be a senior software developer, posted: "the meta-universe will cause us to die slowly." He added: "Zuckerberg can kill a company with only a meta-universe." Zuckerberg has apologized to employees for cutting 11000 jobs and acknowledged that he should be held responsible.
According to the Blind website, when users join the platform, they must provide their work email address, job title and employer's name so that the company can "evaluate" the reliability of the poster. However, the employment situation of users has not been officially confirmed. Blind says it occasionally sends prompts to users asking them to reverify their accounts.
Rick Chen, director of public relations at Blind, said: "at the time of writing, almost all comments on our platform were written by serving employees of their respective companies because people usually do not have access to Blind after they have been fired or resigned."
Since 2020, Meta employees have posted nearly 6000 comments about the company on Blind, with a rating of 4 stars out of 5 stars.
A self-proclaimed engineer gave the company a five-star rating, listing "extremely smart and talented colleagues" and "great culture" in the "strengths" list. On the day of the layoffs, he wrote on the "shortcomings" list: "Zuckerberg is leading the company in the wrong direction."
One user who identified himself as a data scientist said Meta "needs to cut staff at the executive level", adding: "the leadership has no clue and they are mistaking the wrong motion for progress."
A self-proclaimed recruiter gave Meta a four-star rating. He said it was a "very good place to experience", adding that "Zuckerberg is not afraid to take risks (which is a good thing, but also a bad thing)."
One poster, who claimed to be a senior technical project manager, wrote: "Bad leadership is causing the ship to sink." He lists high salaries, benefits and talented colleagues as the "strengths" of the company. "disadvantages" include that there is no accountability among executives at director level and above, and vice presidents and directors are just squeezing the company's profits without adding any value.
The post also said: "I thought this was a data-driven company, but in fact it was a personal intuition and emotion-driven company, and no one could change Zuckerberg's decision."
However, not all Meta employees have a negative view of Zuckerberg. One laid-off employee said they found Zuckerberg's handling of layoffs "very humane".
Another engineer gave the company only one star rating and described the massive layoffs as "the worst layoffs in history". "in the case of massive layoffs, I would not advise anyone to work there until the share price has fully recovered," he said. "
