Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, 12 / 12 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Apple announced the acquisition of classical music service Primephonic in August 2021. At the time, Apple said it planned to launch a dedicated classical music (Classical Music) app this year, but now that it is nearing the end of the year, time is running out for Apple.
CTOnews.com learned that Apple said in a press release shared last year: "Apple Music plans to launch a dedicated classical music app next year. Combined with Primephonic's classical user interface, fans have fallen in love with more additional features." Apple has not mentioned the plan since.
The app will serve as an alternative to Primephonic, providing users with an app that combines classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart.
Primephonic's website initially said it was "developing an amazing neoclassical music experience from Apple early next year", but the phrase "early next year" was changed to "next year" on March 9, 2022.
Primephonic's service was shut down in September 2021, and users at that time could get Apple's music service for six months for free. This means that Primephonic users will be able to listen to Apple music until February, suggesting that Apple may plan to release classical music apps at this year's March event, but this has not become a reality.
In February this year, the code for "Open in Apple Classical" was found in a beta version of the Android version of Apple's music app. Then, in May, similar "Open in Apple Classical" and "A Shortcut to Apple Classical" content were found in the iOS 15.5 beta. All this suggests that Apple plans to name the app "Apple Classic" rather than "Apple Music Classic".
In late September, more references to classical music apps were found in an XML file on Apple's server. It is not clear whether the app will be built into iOS or released separately on App Store.
The fate of Apple's classical music is still unknown. Apple may launch the app in the next week or two, or it may be delayed to 2023, or it may no longer be launched.
