CTOnews.com, December 11, according to the Wall Street Journal, Markus Dohle has resigned as CEO of Penguin Random House (Penguin Random House). The move comes after a US judge blocked the company's acquisition of rival Simon and Simon & Schuster.

Markus Dohle will be replaced by Nihar Malaviya, who will serve as interim CEO from January 1. Malaviya is currently a Penguin Random House candidate. President and chief operating officer.

"after the US antitrust ruling blocking the merger of Penguin Random House and Simon and Schuster, I have decided to hand over the next chapter of our global publishing business to the new leadership after 15 years as CEO of Random House," Dohle said in a notice to employees.

CTOnews.com learned that Penguin Random House's acquisition of Simon and Schuster was first announced in 2020. The Justice Department tried to block the plan last year, saying the merger would reduce competition for books and lead to a decline in the income of authors, demanding an end to the acquisition.
