CTOnews.com, December 11, several unreleased Mac computers have appeared on the Geekbench website in recent weeks. Now, another pair of unpublished Mac is emerging in another database: the November Steam hardware and software survey. Apple is widely expected to release upgraded versions of the MacBook Pro and Mac Studio in early 2023.
CTOnews.com learned that Steam publishes monthly data showing what kind of computer hardware and software its gamers are using, including content such as operating system versions and hardware configurations. The November figures are special because there are two unreleased Mac.
According to MacRumors, two unreleased Mac models were identified as "Mac14,6" and "Mac15,4" in the November survey. The utilization of these Mac is listed as "0.005%", which means that they are not widely used, and they appear in the database indicating that very few Apple engineers may be using Steam software to test the game performance of these Mac computers.
Recently, the "Mac14,6" has been found several times in Geekbench test results, and the computer is thought to be equipped with a M2 Max chip. in one test, the single core score was 2027 and the multi-core score was 14888. In another test, the M2 Max chip has a single core score of 1853 and a multi-core score of 13855.
Apart from this Steam data, the "Mac15,4" model has not been seen anywhere else. This model is likely to refer to another unreleased Mac with M2, such as the new Mac Studio or a different MacBook.
Apple reportedly plans to launch a number of new Mac models in 2023, including the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro,Mac Studio, as well as the long-awaited Mac Pro with Apple Silicon. It is also reported that the new Mac mini will carry the M2 chip.
The M2 Max chip is most likely to power high-end versions of the new MacBook Pro and entry-level Mac Studio models, and the entry-level model of the MacBook Pro may carry the M2 Pro chip.
