CTOnews.com, December 10 (Xinhua)-- AG600M (1006), a large fire fighting and water rescue amphibious aircraft independently developed by the aviation industry, made its first flight in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. This is the third AG600M aircraft that has completed its first flight test since 2022. After the successful verification of the 12-ton water delivery function, it is another key step towards being put into practical use in June 2023.

According to the aviation industry, 08:10 on December 9, the maiden flight crew, composed of Captain Zhao Sheng, co-pilot Tian Yafei, air mechanic Yu Lei, and onboard observer Jiao Lianyue, taxied the AG600M from Zhuhai Jinwan Airport and flew smoothly for 13 minutes. After completing a series of prescribed flight test subjects, the plane landed smoothly at 08:23, the plane was in good condition, the control system was normal, and the systems were in stable operation.

A total of 4 fire extinguishers with all-state new configuration have been developed and put into production, and the AG600M (1006) in this flight test is the third of this type of aircraft. The first plane made its first flight on land on May 31 and on water on August 29. The second plane made its maiden flight on land on September 10. Since the third aircraft was delivered to the flight test station, it has successively completed ground debugging, engine test, and low, medium and high speed taxiing, and completed its first flight test on December 9. Up to now, three aircraft have carried out flight verification test missions at the same time.

CTOnews.com learned that the project plans to have the ability to carry out fire-fighting tasks in 2023, obtain a fire-fighting airworthiness certificate in 2024, obtain a rescue airworthiness certificate in 2025, and deliver it to customers in small batches during the 14th five-year Plan period.
