CTOnews.com December 10, 2016 AMD today announced the AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 driver update ahead of the Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards. AMDVLK is AMD's open source Vulkan driver that enables new features such as ray tracing on Linux platforms.
The AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 driver update does not explicitly support RDNA3-based Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, but is expected to add code.
CTOnews.com understands that this driver update is mainly optimized for performance, such as Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Total War: Three Kingdoms.
The AMDVLK driver accelerates Vulkan games by introducing DXVK and VKD3D-Proton to improve the performance of Linux / Windows games running on Linux platforms.
AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 also updates the Vulkan API 1.3.235 header, fixes a stutter issue in Doom: Eternity, and fixes a Dota 2 issue using AMDVLK in the presence of RADV.
