The "Torch-1" satellite, designed and developed by Rocket Pai (Taicang) Aerospace Science and Technology Co., Ltd., weighs 12.798 kilograms and carries microgravity life science test loads and earth observation loads. After the satellite goes into orbit, it will complete the observation of the growth of microorganisms in the food industry under the condition of microgravity, and realize the reception of the observed data.

The "Torch-1" space life science experiment satellite CTOnews.com has learned that the life science experiment satellite can provide basic conditions for on-orbit experiments such as microorganisms, cells, and protein crystallization in space microgravity. The microgravity life science test mission is based on the cooperation framework of the Rocket Mission and the Oriental Space Port in building a space life science laboratory, and the Rocket Mission is responsible for the development of the satellite payload and the scientific experiment in orbit.

Torch 1 is composed of a satellite service module and a biological load test module: the satellite service module is composed of thermal control, attitude and orbit control, power management, satellite computer, data transmission and propulsion subsystems; the biological load test module is composed of microgravity microorganism training equipment and two observation cameras.

According to reports, in the process of development, the Torch-1 satellite has successively solved such problems as the air tightness design of the test load, the temperature control of the biological culture device, and the optical design of microbial observation, which provides a basic guarantee for the study of microbial growth under microgravity conditions.

The main purpose of this experiment is to detect the effects of space environment (including microgravity, cosmic radiation and other factors) on the growth of aerobic and anaerobes in the intestinal tract. According to the Food and Nutrition Development researcher of the Ministry of Agriculture and villages, the research results will provide a scientific basis for the development of probiotic products and functional foods to improve the intestinal health of astronauts. In addition, probiotic subspecies with stronger industrialization performance can be selected in the future to serve the food industry.
