Beijing, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa on Friday announced a list of members who will join him on the first SpaceX trip around the moon, including singers, athletes and actors.

In 2018, Maezawa booked SpaceX's first lunar mission. In March 2021, he launched the Dear Moon project, selecting six to eight artists to join him on SpaceX's earliest trip to the moon in 2023, which he hoped would consist of people from a variety of backgrounds.

It has been a year and a half since he launched the Dear Moon project, the former Zeyou said in a video posted on Friday. After many interviews, medical examinations and face-to-face meetings, he was finally ready to announce his crew members on a trip around the moon.

According to the video of the US DJ Aoki flying around the moon, the members selected by Maezawa include South Korean rapper T.O.P, US DJ Steve Aoki, YouTube aerospace video producer Tim Dodd, actor Dev Joshi and photographer Karim Karim Iliya. American snowboarder Catelyn Farrington (Kaitlyn Farrington) and dancer Miyu will serve as alternates.

Although SpaceX has said the flight could take place as early as next year, the development of its "starship" is still behind schedule and has not yet entered orbit. SpaceX recently plans to conduct the rocket's first orbital stage test flight as early as December.

Tomoshi Maezawa has been to space before. In December 2021, after working with a space tourism company called Space Adventure, the billionaire traveled to the International Space Station aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. He stayed at the International Space Station for less than two weeks.
