On the morning of December 9, Beijing time, it was reported that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, would sublet part of the office space of the European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

A spokesman for Meta said in an email on Thursday that "as part of our ongoing review of office space around the world, we have decided to sublease part of the office space in the Bolsbridge campus."

Facebook's parent company, Meta, signed a 25-year lease on Dublin's Fibonacci Square, a 375000-square-foot (34800-square-meter) office space in 2018. Meta has instructed its real estate agency Cushman & Wakefield Plc to sublet the newly developed neighborhood to other users, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The news came after the company announced more than 11000 job cuts last month, the first round of large-scale layoffs in the social media company's history. Meta is one of several large international technology companies with European headquarters in Ireland. Recently, companies, including Twitter and Stripe, have also launched layoffs in Ireland.

Meta said it remained "firmly committed to staying in Ireland" and that employees of the current Dublin base would move to the completed parts of the new park in early 2023. A spokesman for the company said the development project south of Dublin "will be the main location for our international headquarters".
