According to news in the morning of December 9, Beijing time, Twitter was sued by employees in federal court in San Francisco on Wednesday. The plaintiff said that about 57% of Twitter's female employees were laid off, while only 47% of men were laid off.

Twitter laid off about 3700 employees in early November, and about hundreds more resigned. Differential treatment of engineering jobs is particularly serious during layoffs, with 63 per cent of women losing their jobs and 48 per cent of men. Two women sued Twitter last month, arguing that Twitter violated federal and California laws that prohibit gender discrimination when it laid off staff.

Shannon Liss-Riordan, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, pointed out that after Musk's acquisition of Twitter, women were the main targets, completely ignoring their talents and contributions. The plaintiffs made a lot of allegations, such as Twitter laid off staff without advance notice in accordance with the law, failed to pay the promised severance payment, and some disabled employees were refused to telecommute and had to be forced out by Musk.

At least three employees were retaliated by the company for complaining to the National Labor Relations Board (National Labor Relations Board) about Twitter. They wanted the company to provide better working conditions.
