According to the introduction below, in order to meet the requirements of cost priority and coverage index for wide-area millimeter wave coverage, the new platform combines the Qualcomm FSM 5G RAN platform for small base stations to launch a macro base station antenna module that supports 256antenna units, which can provide the equivalent omni-directional radiation power (EIRP) of 60dBm and the spectrum that supports 1GHz bandwidth.

The new Qualcomm Compact Macro Base Station 5G RAN platform provides long-distance performance enhancement for compact macro base station products, which more than doubles the coverage of small base stations designed with Qualcomm FSM 5G RAN platform, significantly reducing the number of base stations required for wide area coverage. In addition, by driving the evolution of Qualcomm's FSM 5G RAN platform for small base stations, this compact macro base station solution addresses the energy efficiency, size, and cost complexity common in similar solutions, making deployment easier.
It is worth mentioning that the solution is designed to drive the growth of millimeter wave infrastructure deployment by significantly reducing the challenge of providing wide area coverage and data capacity. Compared with similar high-power millimeter wave macro station solutions, compact macro base stations can reduce base station equipment costs by up to 50% in specific coverage areas, and the features they support will play an important role in key use cases, including:
