CTOnews.com, December 8, 2020, when launching a new Chromium-based Edge browser, Microsoft also provided support for older operating systems, such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Now that benefit is coming to an end, as Microsoft's Edge browser prepares to stop supporting the Windows version released before 2015. The latest Microsoft Edge Dev development version is now available only to Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.

It is worth noting that Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and other stable versions of Chromium-based browsers still support Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 (Chrome is already urging its customers to update to Windows 10 or Windows 11).

CTOnews.com learned that early next year, developers will stop providing updates for outdated versions of Windows after Microsoft ends its Windows 7 extended security update program. As for Firefox Firefox,Mozilla, it is still deciding when to stop updating the Firefox browser on the system before Windows 10.

Desktop side:

Added that dark mode is enabled for sidebar content that does not support dark mode when dark mode is enabled.

Added the ability to create shares and withdraw Workspaces share links in browsers.

The recently closed tab will now show who closed the Workspaces tab with a timestamp.

Mobile:

Favorites will now display new content inspired by the user's favorites and Web. Existing collections will not be migrated, but the feature will be available soon, and users can switch back at any time.

Enterprise side:

Add * support to the ExtensionInstallBlocklist policy to block all sidebar applications.

New strategy: (note: document and administrative template updates may not have occurred)

-policies that control the scope search function.

WebView2:

The Edge Remote Tools WDP plug-in can now connect to the WebView2 UWP process.

HTTPS is now supported for WDP remote debugging.
